Evaluations will be held at the end of January. Any age group that has enough players for more than one team will have player evaluations. After evaluations, a draft will take place with the coaches for each age group except for 6U. Players are assigned to teams by draft as a requirement to utilize Forsyth County facilities. Therefore, we are unable to honor requests to play with friends or coaches.
For Age Group specific questions or general assistance, please click on the Contact Us menu to contact your age group director.
Practices will tentatively begin the week of February 17th. 6u and 8u will typically practice at Joint Venture Park. 10u and up will practice at Sharon Springs Park. Field practices are 1 hour for 6U and 90 minutes for all other ages.
Pre-season you can expect one weekday field practice and one Saturday field practice. Each team will also have one indoor batting cage practice on a weekday each week at Redline Athletics in Cumming.
The season will tentatively begin the week of March 17th. The home park for 6u and 8u is Joint Venture Park and for 10u and up is Sharon Springs Park. You will also have away games at other parks around Forsyth County.
The season consists of 12 games followed by a post-season tournament in late May. You can expect one weekday game and one Saturday game per week. There are no games during Spring Break. Most weekday games occur Monday-Thursday unless there are make-up games due to weather. Teams may also hold an optional field or batting practice during the week. By rule, teams may not meet more than 3 times per week.
Game lengths by division:
6U – 55 minutes
8U – 70 minutes
10U – 85 minutes
13U – 85 minutes
18U – 85 minutes
Forsyth County Parks and Recreation department sets and manages the game schedules. Coaches receive the game schedules at the county coaches meeting in mid-March. SSAA is unable to provide the game schedule before this date.
Sharon Springs will provide uniform setups that include a jersey, pants, belt, socks, and a sweatshirt. Each player will need to bring their own water bottle, backpack, cleats, glove, fielders mask (optional but encouraged), bat (USSSA stamped), and batting helmet with face guard (as required by the County) to every practice and game. We strongly suggest putting their name, a decal, or some sort of identifier on each item, so the girls know what belongs to them.
